First Youth Summit in Years a Success! PDF Print E-mail

The Maine Q-T (Queer and Trans) Youth Summit at Unity College went very well for it's first year. back in almost a decade The icebreaker of making animal noises to find our "animal brethren" warmed us all up and got us all very excited for the days events. The workshops were very informative and fun; from the creative works of Denise Dill and Dave End performing and leading the Arts and Music workshop to Penny's highly informative "Ask Anything" workshop. Not one person was excluded by choice or desire; everyone worked together and played together. Dancing to the high energy beats of Lady Gaga and other artists concluded the evening as we all helped pick up after a long day of networking, sharing resources and having fun!

The 2nd annual Outright L/A fundraiser "The Lewistunning Dragapalooza" was a major success!  Four youth performances, some performing on a main stage for the first time, followed by a gaggle of local drag king and queen talent packed the sold out the over 300 seat Schaeffer Theater.  Between tickets sales, raffle prizes and donations from the Heaven and Hell after-party we raised well over $2000 to help keep our drop-in doors open and our after school programgs running!  Thanks so much to everyone that helped with the event, especially the performers who donated their time and wonderful folks at OUTfront for hosting the event!
